Sciton celebrates 20 years of innovation

[vc_row][vc_column width=”3/4″][vc_column_text]Over the past two decades, Sciton has established a well-earned reputation for creating cutting-edge skin technology with a focus on science and achieving results that matter.

Results that matter’ is more than a mantra at Sciton. From design and manufacturing, through post-sale service, the Palo Alto-based company is committed to producing and supporting systems that exceed expectations.

Sciton was founded in 1998 by two laser physicists, Jim Hobart, PhD, and Daniel Negus, PhD, with the goal of producing exceptional devices with a high level of clinical relevance. With two decades of performance behind them, Sciton systems have become the standard of care for laser- assisted lipolysis, fractional and full-coverage skin resurfacing, hair removal, phototherapy, wrinkle reduction, treatment of vascular and pigmented lesions, scar reduction, and acne.

Being a private, employee-owned company, the focus is on quality equipment, support, service and enhancing customer experience as a priority, not shareholder dividends.

Sciton’s mission is to provide systems that are technical and performance leaders for their applications; o er unparalleled reproducibility, e cacy and speed; give practitioners the highest possible value; and provide extraordinary reliability and durability.

Today Sciton operates worldwide in more than 45 countries and has launched 26 major innovations since its inception, including the agship expandable-platform JOULE system; Broadband Light BBL, widely considered to be the most versatile broadband light system in its class; and HALO, the world’s first hybrid fractional laser. Sciton Australia

We caught up with Phil Schramm, General Manager of Sciton Australia and New Zealand, to ask about the Australian perspective and what practitioners can expect from Sciton over the next 20 years.

Q. How is Sciton represented in Australia?
A. Sciton has had a presence in Australia for the past 13 years through Ionia Medical as our distribution representative. Whilst we have more recently established a more direct presence to enhance the customer experience, the relationship with Ionia Medical will continue to allow support that is second to none.

Q. How does the Australian laser device market di er from international markets?
A. We deal with a well-researched and sceptical market in Australia and New Zealand, which means that to succeed it is a necessity for a company to have operational, marketing, engineering and clinical expertise. These are all part of the package when clients become part of the Sciton family.

Q. What can Sciton o er Australian practitioners that they haven’t had before?
A. Given the level of industry consolidation over recent times, people are ready for something genuine. Clinicians are tired of the lack of clinical outcomes, poor equipment quality and lack of support that plagues many existing brands. Products that don’t deliver lead to overall dissatisfaction in the client experience and Sciton ANZ will change that perception with science, support and high-quality products that deliver results. We are excited to build on the existing Sciton reputation of quality, experience and support whilst strengthening our existing clients to capitalise on market opportunity.

Q. What training and education opportunities does Sciton offer?
A. Sciton ANZ will be hosting regular workshops to enhance education and brand awareness. Sciton ANZ has some of the most experienced and knowledgeable staff in the industry. Our level of professionalism and longevity proves there is more to Sciton than just quality devices. We also provide our clients access to the ‘Sciton Success Builder’, which helps clinics to understand and harness their business opportunity as well as helping clinicians who are new to light-based aesthetic devices.

Q. Last year marked Sciton’s 20th birthday. How has the company developed and remained relevant during this period?
A. Sciton has never forsaken its reputation to simply rush into the hottest trends. Our motto, ‘because results matter’ means we don’t compromise our integrity or craftsmanship just to o er a procedure because everyone else is. When we do something, we do it right and it is based on science and world-class engineering.

Q. What technologies are you focusing on the moment?
A. The latest buzz in the celebrity world is the ‘Halo glow’, an obvious winner. Halo by Sciton is the rst hybrid fractional laser in the world utilising multiple wavelengths simultaneously to give optimum results and glowing skin, with no downtime. In addition, diVa by Sciton utilises the same hybrid technology, and has fast become the gold standard in women’s vaginal health.

Q. Any future plans you can share with us?
A. Our R & D engineers are ‘minds that never sleep’ so there will always be something around the corner. We can’t give away our secrets, but I can say that our mantra of ‘Sciton Owns Skin’ has led to plans to enhance our existing portfolio and look to ‘own’ other areas of the aesthetic market as well.

‘Sciton owns skin’ and ‘because results matter’ are the mottos by which we live. We may not always be the rst to market, but you can be guaranteed any procedure released by Sciton has clinical validation with results that exceed current options in the market. Each and every Sciton procedure will do what it claims to do without compromise.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
